Who I am What I do

Hello and welcome

I am a family practice doctor who has been practicing in a traditional clinic setting for over 10 years.  I feel our current medical system does not allow for an intensive focus on helping people reach their wellness goals so I decided to change gears and find a place where I can be a doctor who focuses on this.

This is your opportunity to focus on your health and well-being; what a privilege that is in today’s age of rushing and sacrificing for those around you.  I am here to help you along your journey to improved wellness in whatever realm that may be.  “Dynamic Roots” name has an implied meaning in the essential components needed to reach your goals.  “Roots” refers to building a strong, deep foundation for your healthy life.  “Dynamic” refers to the multidimensional aspects of a well balanced life.  If we only focus on one area of health, such as nutrition, we may still have other wellness deficits like exercise, stress, psychological struggles.

No two people are the same so why should we be forced to think that there is only one way to achieve our goals?  My approach is individualized to help you find your unique path.  I want to help you understand what motivates you, how to make choices to decrease life’s demands, find dietary methods that can stay with you for life, determine reasonable and enjoyable exercise routines, have a tool box for stress relief measures, in addition to much more.

Nutrition Plans

There are many aspects to deciding an appropriate nutrition plan.  First we need to unlearn what media and other fads have tried to convince us is the “greatest diet ever.”  Our bodies are sending us beneficial messages and when we listen to this advice, we can get a sense for the direction we are being given.

Fitness

Fitness plans are best devised with listening to your mind and body’s intuition.  It is important to acknowledge what forms of exercise are pleasant to you and practical for your life.  We need to identify what is safe for your body, especially if you have any significant musculoskeletal issues such as arthritis, tendinitis, specific physical restrictions, etc.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be an incredible tool for everyday use.  Mindfulness is paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, without judgement.  This cues us into acknowledging our surroundings, our bodies’ natural activities (such as breathing), our senses and can help us to recognize the busyness of our minds such as our obsession with replaying events of the past or worrying about the future.  

Stress Management

Everyone has stress.  Sometimes we think that living in a developed country we should downplay our problems in comparison to others’, but no matter what your circumstances are, we all have stress.

Life Balance

There are several aspects to life balance, some include: work/profession, finances, relationships, personal development, physical surroundings/environment, self care, spiritual fulfillment.  

Family Practice Clinic

I offer traditional family practice services at the Alexis Wagner Memorial Clinic in Hamilton, MT.  In this setting I enjoy integrating family medicine with wellness recommendations for specific medical issues we may address.  Refer to the clinic website for more info on family practice services.   

Personal and large organization wellness programs

Wellness should be a right not a privilege for few.  I offer traditional wellness coaching with individuals, couples/pairs and small groups.  I find this work can be transformative for these individuals.  Another aspect of my mission is to increase availability to a larger audience.   In the midst of busy lifestyles both at work and at home, it can be quite challenging to find time to focus on wellness.  One solution to this is on-site wellness education for businesses.  Business programs can be focused on one specific area or a collaborative mix of multiple areas of nutrition, fitness, meditation/mindfulness, stress management, etc.  I have access to yoga, tai chi and qi gong instructors that can introduce courses on site.   My wellness programs can provide comprehensive care or can enhance another wellness program that may already be in existence in the business setting.  

When we make our goal to lovingly take care of the essence of who we are, we potentiate powerful healing and the true strength of our mind and body.  Let’s have some fun and work together!
