Sometimes we cope with stress in positive ways and sometimes in negative ways. If we are avoiding our stress or coping with it negatively, it directly inhibits our full potential for wellness. We will experience more physical symptoms, emotional fluctuations and feel more vulnerable to external circumstances and challenges.
There are many tools that can help us to constructively work through stress and regain the ability to make conscious, healthy choices. We can also develop self compassion to forgive our shortcomings when we do not meet our unreasonable expectations of perfection. Some tools include psychological strategies, mindfulness, meditation, exercise (including yoga, tai chi, qi gong), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming), taking time for self care, keeping a sense of humor in life’s adventures, among others.
